We are an exclusive, yet growing group of masters rowers – anyone born in 1964 or earlier – newly minted F category rowers (and also G, H, and above too).
We are noticing our bodies change, stiffen, and lose balance control. And maybe you or your crew mates have suffered injury recently.
You may be lacking functional strength and suffer increasing movement limitations.
A webinar for us
David Frost is a masters rower, an author, and a functional strength training specialist – he says
“Our “whole body” sport mandates the “self-care” of all major body joints and connective tissues for better performance and injury prevention.”
You may not know that most masters’ rowing injuries occur off the water – loading the washing machine or missing your footing in the garden or shower. As older masters, these injuries take longer and longer to heal leaving us out of the boat for weeks at a time.
If you think “those are preventable injuries” – you’re right.
David Frost is the man to show us how to avoid injury, maintain our body function and continue to row as we age past 60.
Functional strength is the ability to carry out the tasks of “everyday life”. As rowers, these tasks include lifting a boat off a high rack, twisting to rotate in the sweep rowing movement, as well as off-water activities like moving onto the dock, and getting out of the boat.
You know these movements are becoming more challenging.
I’ve noticed how much harder it is to step out of my single scull – although I can manage a double, quad and eight with no issue. It seems this portends a change in my functional strength and movement ability.
“Don’t get better at getting weaker with age”
That’s a quote from Ed McNeely (look him up – superb coach and author). And it’s a rallying cry for all masters rowers aged over 60.
We. Will. Not.
This webinar is about being proactive, taking steps to limit decline, strengthen our bodies and getting to know the key stability “tools”.
The webinar is on October 7th, 2024 (yep – that’s next week). It WILL be recorded – but if you’d like to ask questions live with David, you know what to do.
