Prior to owning my single, I’ve always rowed stern rigged boats. Now that I have a bow rigger I’m struggling with my “stuff.”… my phone, water bottle, speed coach and now my training / drill notes… any accessories and/or mounting preferences you like? Currently I have my speed coach on my foot stretcher, and keeping my phone precariously tethered and tucked to the stern… I’m open to ideas!

    Hi Sue,

Ben Booth from Next Boatworks has some ideas about devices:

I have a Velocitek Makai, which works well as a speedometer and odometer.

For my phone and other stuff that I want to keep dry, I use one or two of these Yeti bags. I’ve got an Apple Watch so can run apps and answer the phone from the watch, provided my phone is nearby. I can tie a Yeti bag to the rigger, so it’s not too hard to access.

Great advice. I use a Lifeproof phone Mount for my RIM app and it goes around my foot stretcher or on the wing.

My Hudson is bow rigged. It came with a speed coach mount that works well. You might check with your boat manufacturer to see if they provide a mount.

I carry my phone in a Fanny pack in a waterproof bag. I put it on when I get out of my car at the boathouse so it is always with me, doesn’t get in the way. and easily accessible. A linked up watch makes it more convenient!
