The three stages of masters rowing and a checklist of the skills learned in each stage. When learning to row you move up through experience and grades.

Beginners Rowing

Beginners

You're learning how to handle a boat safely and build your confidence on the water. This stage covers everything from launching and steering to turning, backing and stopping in an emergency.

Intermediate Rowing

Intermediate

You're developing real technical skill. This stage is about blade work, rate and pressure control, moving between different boat sizes, and starting to understand rigging and how to support others in the crew.

Advanced Rowing

Advanced

You row with precision and can handle challenging conditions. At this level you're refining catch timing, rowing square blades, coaching from inside the boat, and taking responsibility for rigging decisions.
