Since the 80s, Concept2 have made the world’s most popular rowing machine. The only problem? They haven’t progressed to the Peloton model of a home workout with screens, internet connectivity, and a library of on-demand workouts. MyRow turns a C2 rower into a connect to fitness exercise machine.
Hello again Reader
What do you like about being your age?
Reflecting on my life thus far, I’ve had many wonderful experiences: friends, places where I’ve lived or visited; regattas, crews, books, MEALS.
All the amazing and terrible moments I remember and I am thankful for them all. They make me what I am today. Rowing heroes and heroines that I’ve met. Loves. Races I’ve been in, training and camps I did, rivers and lakes where I have rowed. I’ve written many, many articles, books and recorded podcasts.
All these are like money in the bank.
Yet at the same time I’m still going out looking for more of some of those things. But now it’s like the pressure’s off. I want to experience many more things, however it’s not so urgent that I do everything.

Meeting you this weekend
If you are fortunate enough to be in Boston to race at HOCR this upcoming weekend, I really hope we can meet up. I will be in a booth somewhere between the finish line and the very last bridge – there’s a big park area where all the rowing company vendor tents are lined up. I am told we will be near parking Lot 1 (HT 4).
Drop by, say hi, take a photo, chat and tell me about your race.
I love meeting Faster Masters in person.
On the stall I will have for sale waterproof socks, rowing tool bags, spacer placer tools and our new product., rowing themed gift wrap.
This week, plan a row with someone you don’t regularly row with. Share your expertise, or ask them to share their expertise with you.

Does anyone have experience of using GPS for training time trials?
I realize it is somewhat inaccurate, but am not sure how much. My understanding is that a wide river is a good place for GPS because the phone/device can “see” the four satellites that it needs without tall buildings and things being in the way. Typically, a device will receive these signals about once a second, is that right?, but this may depend on antenna, chip-set and software. So to try and frame the question more closely:
1) Degree of accuracy, assuming good GPS signal?
2) Variation in device, phone v watch?, and settings that might make a difference?
